Your body needs vitamins to work properly and they do their best when you have enough amounts of each one of them. Many vitamins are designed to work on a specific part of the body but will need another vitamin to help it work to its maximum benefit. If the body doesn't receive the right levels of vitamins, the body can work around that for a short time. If the body is deprived of the essential nutrients and vitamins it needs, it can lead to disease and sickness.
Currently the spotlight is on the antioxidant benefits of vitamins, especially in Vitamin A, C, and E. Particles known as free radicals are by-products of many of our body's functions. They are increased in number by various environmental issues such as stress, chemicals, and toxins. These can be harmful damaging cell membranes and interacting with different genetic material and are believed to contribute to cancer, heart disease, cataracts, and the process of aging. Vitamins A, C and E, have antioxidants that neutralize free radicals and help reduce their damage.
Vitamin E shortages are linked to heart disease and Vitamin E may prevent blood clots and the formation of plaque on the walls of arteries. If you have diabetes, you should always be sure you are getting enough Vitamin E because it reduces inflammation and damage to blood vessels.
Vitamins B6 and B12 is being studied to see if there is a connection between acceptable amounts of these vitamins and reducing heart disease. They also help blood flow through the arteries. Large amounts of fruit and vegetables that contain carotene, lycopene, and other carotenoids may reduce the risk of heart attack, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. These Vitamins B6 and B12 contain folate and helps improves blood flow through the arteries. Niacin, Vitamin B3, is important in lowering bad cholesterol levels. It is available over-the-counter or can be obtained by a prescription from your doctor. A doctor's prescription is considered to be safer and effective.
Vitamins may protect us against other diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, respiratory disease, and other infectious diseases. Our eyes and our skin need the proper vitamins to function properly. Our body is susceptible to a wide variety of diseases and respiratory infections if we do not take in enough vitamins. You can keep the proper amount of vitamins in your body by eating a healthy diet and taking a good multivitamin daily. You can prevent serious diseases and infections by ensuring you are getting the recommended daily allowance of all your vitamins and minerals.
You may choose between synthetic and natural vitamins, as there are benefits to both. Check the ingredients on the bottles, if they are nearly the same with the full amount of recommended dosages, you can choose the brand that is the least expensive and still be fine with your choice. You may also choose between a vitamin pill and a good liquid variety. Both are equally effective and it may be easier for some to use the liquid if they have problems swallowing a pill.
