Reducing stress can help us to manage our lives effectively. We can reduce stress by reviewing life and its potential problems, solutions and resources, and formulating stress management plans to deal with possible scenarios that could arise in the future.
If you are part of a normal family, then you probably have to deal with normal everyday things, like managing a home, car, job, children, looking for ways to provide entertainment and other related responsibilities. You may own your own home, vehicle and have established a foundation to succeed in life. You spend one day out of every week to enjoy quality time with the family and you visit your friends on occasions to get new ideas and stimulation in your life. Your job is running smoothly and you see no need to worry about any problem since you feel that everything is under control. You have a degree of comfort and security, your confidence is high and your emotions are intact.
Everything seems perfect, so you are relaxing when you arrive home from work, since your job brought forth a rewarding day because of your outstanding efforts. Sounds perfect and I would give my last dollar to live in this environment, in fact most of us would. Now we are looking at a situation where stressors and stress are minimal. Since we can never eliminate stress from our lives, we have to question this scenario. The husband or wife are not worrying about anything, since they have established what appears to be a firm foundation for their family. Are they prepared, however, for stressors and stress? Did they plan to prepare in case disaster occurs? Are they expecting that life will remain on a positive track, or are they expecting that troubles could surface at any time?
Finally, are they prepared to make decisions when troubles surface, and did they prepare their family for any potential problems that may arise in the future? Does the family have a contingency plan, resources, skills or training, a trusted support group, and help available when, if and should troubles occur?
Maybe they have set up a savings account believing that money would bail them out of all problems. Look carefully between the lines and tell me where stressors and stress exist? Since, we do not know what has been discussed in the family we are going to assume that this family is stable, secure and has not set up a stress management scheme in case the worst possible occurs. By assuming this, we can deduce that the family is not prepared to handle trials that may arise beyond the common and usual problems. We can assume that the family has not planned for stress management relief when a high impact situation occurs. We can also assume that the family is not using their head to the fullest, since we cannot determine if the family can make appropriate decisions when a major problem arises, or disaster strikes.
Let's look at an example of what could happen to this family to see how prepared we all are in any possible "worst case" scenario. Ok, so the world is good and the family is happier than they have ever been. The family continues taking daily care of their responsibilities and enjoying their peaceful environment and prosperous circumstances. Suddenly, everyone wakes up one fine sunny afternoon and finds that dad has lost his job; mom is not working since dad had it all under control. Panic strikes, the husband flairs with anger since he has lost his security and his ability to take care of his family and responsibilities.
They think they have enough money in their account to take care of the mortgage and bills until one of the partners lands another job. Then he calls his bank to find out that his identity was stolen and his banking accounts are drained of resources. Ouch! Now you have a real life problem with fairly severe and overwhelming stressors acting upon you.
Let us see how prepared this family could have been in events such as these, where stress is overwhelming. Now, we all know that we are subject to unemployment and identity theft. Where is the backup plan? If the family was prepared and planned, they would know immediately what they would need to do to deal with the legal processes of addressing identity theft and unemployment. Now, we know they had a stress management plan when they believed their savings would protect their family in case the main breadwinner lost his or her job, but we see that this plan blown when they hang up the phone with their bank manager. I am not going to finish this story, since I am the type of person that likes to promote positive thinking. Now I am leaving it up to you to find out the ending of the story, and search your mind to find a stress management plan that would work best for you, your family and your life, should any disasters or tragedies strike.

Stress Management Facts & Tips
If you have a high stress level for a long period of time, it can begin to affect your physical health and make life much less enjoyable. Stress, over time, will wear you down physically, resulting in a loss of energy, which puts you into a cycle of just maintaining and not taking the time to enjoy life. This loss of energy will you affect all aspects of your life, including your mood and overall quality of life. Since you are tired and not in a good mood, you will not feel like doing anything extra, and if you do, it will not be as enjoyable. Since you are not enjoying much, it will seem like you don't have fun anymore and just go from obligation to obligation like a robot. Eventually it will seem like you don't have much to look forward to, which will bring your mood down even further, keeping you in this cycle of fulfilling responsibilities without enjoying life.
